The Middle East is in the midst of a ‘green revolution’. More consumers are becoming eco-aware and are beginning to search for products that can help cut their carbon footprints and promote greener lifestyles, both at home and more recently at work.
Consumers are also becoming increasingly tech savvy and are desperate for the latest, fastest and most state-of-the-art products on the shelves. While traditionally the ‘green ideology’ has been apparent in the home as consumers replace their existing appliances with environmentally friendly products, there has also been a noticeable shift toward implementing green solutions in the office space. Inefficient office IT equipment is one of the main culprits that add to a business’s carbon footprint and making the right product choices can result in huge monetary savings.
Whether it’s reducing energy consumption or increasing the life span of a product, every little thing helps in the quest for greener more efficient living. Samsung has been a pioneer of green technology for a number of years, and more recently have been delivering greener IT products that can be easily implemented in offices.
Recently Samsung launched its environmentally inspired color laser printers, the Samsung CLX-8640 and CLX-8650 series, which are designed to deliver the fastest performance on the market with a lower cost of operation, enabling offices to achieve the best and most reliable productivity.
In addition to the outstanding performance and reliability, the CLX-8640 and CLX-8650 series conserves power consumption with use of Samsung’s Instant
Fusing System (IFS) technology. Both these models feature an Eco Driver Function, which offers various printing options and simulation to save on toner usage. Without editing the original document, users can temporarily edit and avoid printing unnecessary pages, resulting in an efficient use of toner and paper. With this setting, users can view the expected results of reduced CO2 emissions, electricity usage, paper and toner consumption, simply at the click of a button so potential energy and cost savings could be clearer.
Samsung’s 550 and 750 Monitor series also have a variety of green credentials including an Eco Saving feature, which reduces energy by 50 per cent. Additionally the 550 series monitor includes Samsung’s proprietary innovative moulding technology called Touch of Color (ToC), which was designed without the use of any harmful materials such as Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), lead or mercury. In fact all Samsung’s featured LED LCD panels are completely mercury free and consume only 60-70 per cent of energy compared to your standard LCD monitor. Similarly the Samsung notebooks also consume significantly less energy and the new Series 9 Notebook comes with battery life extender, ideal for business on the go.
All of Samsung’s notebooks boast an Energy Star 5.0 rating, after being named as the only Computer Manufacturer with the Energy Star Excellence Award in 2009.
Although ‘going green’ may seem like the latest trend, reducing unnecessary waste, providing a healthy workplace and maximizing profit should be top priorities for any major business; so social responsibility aside, a ‘green revolution’ makes good business sense.
